Golden Hour Graduation Shoot.
This past weekend I had the pleasure of doing a couple of graduation photoshoots. My shoot with Maira took place during golden hour, which had absolutely gorgeous light for taking photos. Rather than taking photos on campus, Maira wanted to shoot in a more natural environment. She chose the Davis Arboretum as her location.
If you've followed my blog at all, you'll know I shoot at the Arboretum all the time. It is such a gorgeous location for taking photos in a nature location. I was particularly thankful that the weather was perfect that evening. This shoot day was sandwiched by a couple of unusual rainy days - definitely very odd for this time of year. But those rainy days did give us cooler weather for this shoot.
It was awesome working with Maira and trying to get the grad photos that she wanted. Her desire was for shots that were more traditional. I think we were able to achieve the photos that she wanted. We were able to get many shots that would look great hung up on a wall or framed on a desk.
For this shoot I used the new Sony a9 exclusively with prime lenses. I really enjoyed the way the camera handled, and it worked flawlessly. I am definitely in love with that camera. If you haven't seen my unboxing video for it yet I suggest you take a look at my earlier blog post if you're interested in seeing me open up the camera from its box.
What a great day of shooting. A huge thanks goes out to Maira for hiring me for her graduation photos. I had a blast taking photos with her. I wish her all the success in the world as she leaves the college life and moves on into the working world!
