Fran's Family Photoshoot
Fran wanted to do a big family photoshoot this morning and asked if I would be able to take photos of her and her SEVENTEEN family members! These, of course, are her husband, kids, and grandkids. Photographing a large group is nothing new to me as this is pretty much par for the course when shooting large groups at a wedding.
We spent the time photographing different groups of the family such as the married couples, the kids, etc. In total we ended up with over 60 photos delivered! Just as with all my other photo sessions, I don’t set a limit on how many photos we shoot - just the amount of time. Fran really took good advantage of the offer and was able to receive all the different groupings she wanted.
Today I decided to bring out the off camera flashes. Sometimes I struggle decided to go with flash or without. Both have advantages. Going without the flash allows for more spontaneous shooting and less set-up time. Using flash gives the photos a very ‘professional’ look with tons of contrast and detail. I ended up setting up the flash systems because I knew with such a large group that there wouldn’t really be any spontaneous shots to get - so this session had a very formal feel to it.
Of course that doesn’t mean if there isn’t any fun I won’t get it. We did get a number of fun photos during the session as the family joked around and enjoyed their time together. These outtake style photos I’m sure will be enjoyed for years to come!
I’m very happy with how the photos came out. Using flash photography gives the photos a look all its own. I’m very used to using flash systems or going without them. The main point is to make great images, and I think I was able to accomplish that today! If you’re looking for any type of photography, message me and we’ll book a time and day!
