Anniversary at the Old Sugar Mill
Austin contacted me for a quick session at the Old Sugar Mill. It was his anniversary with this wife and he wanted to surprise her with some quality photos as they celebrated. Their plan was to spend the day visiting different wineries for tastings…. sounds like an awesome plan to me! We met in front of the Old Sugar Mill where he told his wife that he had arranged a special little photoshoot to commemorate the occasion. She loved it and was thrilled! Austin is the man!
The Old Sugar Mill has gorgeous backdrops for photos everywhere you look, however, you can’t just go there and start shooting. They have a very strict photography policy in which you have to sign waivers as well as pay a fee. Many private locations such as these have this type of policy as I’m sure they don’t want to be overrun with photogs and their clients all the time. It’s also a great way to generate some money with their private location.
Our session was 30-minutes - a perfect amount of time to do a few photos without taking too much time out of the day. I’m sure Austin had a huge day planned so the photo session needed to be quick and concise. In total, I was able to deliver 35 fully edited high resolution photos to Austin from our session. Not a bad haul for half an hour!
My primary camera for this shoot was the Canon EOS-R with the amazing 50mm 1.2 L-lens. I’ve been wanting to shoot with this lens more so and I thought this was a great opportunity to do so. I’m actually parting with the EOS-R soon and hoping to upgrade to the EOS R5. If you’re looking for the EOS-R, let me know as the one I have is completely clean and in spectacular condition.
I was so happy that Austin contacted me for his special photo session. I loved it and I’m pretty sure it earned him a ton of brownie points with the mrs! If you wanna be cool like Austin, contact me and we’ll set a date for your own special shoot!
