Jazmyn and Hugh's Wedding

Jazmyn and Hugh’s wedding was really something else! There were a huge amount of guests that came with the entire wedding taking over a golf resort. Brian and I were onsite early to get photos of everyone getting ready. The shot I took of Jazmyn as she got ready was one of my favorites. I just love how the mirror in the photo is positioned so that her bridesmaid looks as if she is looking straight at Jazmyn. If you look closely, you can actually see my forearm in the mirror as well. I try to not be in the shots but sometimes these things happen! Did you notice it before I opened my big mouth about it?

Everyone came dressed their absolute best to this wedding. Just check out these handsome gentlemen as they walk down the aisle. Their suits are extremely clean and the red in them really pops. Further helping this photo is the bokeh in the background - it’s so smooth and dreamy! Only the best lenses can achieve such a look. I’m pretty sure the lens I used for this photo was a Sony 70-200 2.8 zoom lens. It’s my personal favorite lens to give my subjects a three dimensional look within a photo. Though it’s not my favorite element in the photo, the lady trying to take a cell phone picture does add some foreground dimension.

This flower girl was the absolute cutest! From the flowers on her arm to her head adornment, she was perfect. Like the photo of the boys before, this photo was taken with the same Sony 70-200 2.8 lens. This photo was taken when she was much closer to me and she really fills up the entire frame nicely. The bokeh in the background is even more smooth the photo before.

And here comes the bride! Jazmyn was drop dead gorgeous as she walked down the aisle towards Hugh. I love this shot I was able to capture of her as it shows a full body shot of all three of the them as they walk. In post, I decided to use a warmer tone in the processing which works great for a classy, yet romantic feel. The greens are subdued quite a bit while the reds pop out of the photo - just look at the rose petals on the ground and you’ll know what I’m talking about!

Switching over to a 24-70 2.8 lens is a must when you are close to the subjects. For may photographers, the 24-70 2.8 lens is the most versatile lens you can use. I can see why, but it’s a bit too ‘normal’ for me. Still, this lens will capture a great medium focal length shot that is generally wide enough to include everything you need into it.

Hugh was sure happy when he and Jazmyn finished their vows! He let out a huge yell of joy and I was right there to get a photo of it. These moments of emotion are my specialty. It’s emotions and the expressions that people make that give photos a special quality. At all times during an event my eyes will be looking for the opportunity to catch those emotions and expressions right as they happen. Usually they only happen once… and if you miss it, you miss it.

A huge congratulations go out to Jazmyn and Hugh. After the ceremony we went into the receptions where there were parties and games all night long. Jazmyn and Hugh spared no expense in their wedding and it showed. The guests were blown away by the event and it will be a wedding to forever remember.

I’ve got to thank Brian for being an amazing second shooter for me at this event. Brian knows his way around the camera and can certainly hold his own if necessary. If you’re looking for wedding photography or videography, please check my pages on this site for more information.
