Family Time

Family shoots are so much fun! The Laflen’s hired me to take some photos of them at the Sac State Arboretum. If you follow my blog, you know most of my photo sessions take place at UC Davis. Well, the Sac State Arboretum is beautiful as well with some very picturesque backdrops to shoot in front of. It was a gorgeous day for photographs and I was able to take advantage of the perfect light.

My family sessions last up to one-hour, and during that time I try to get as many poses and pairings as possible. It’s really important to me that I provide my clients with as many photos as I can because I want them to have as much value as possible. Besides the group family photos, I took many father/son photos, as well as just the kids, just the girls, the parents, and individual shots.

It’s a lot of fun coming up with unique photos that tell stories. Brother was much taller than his younger sisters and I wanted to get a funny picture that depicted that. The photo above was one of my favorites from our session.

I bring out the best glass whenever I go to a shoot. The Sony 85mm 1.4 and the Sony Zeiss 35 1.4 were my two main lenses for this shoot. Both of them are incredible performers and create punchy, colorful images that end up really popping. They aren’t cheap to purchase, but there isn’t anything that can beat having good glass to use in photos. It makes such a huge difference!

I had a ton of fun at this shoot, and I think the Laflens did as well. If you’re looking to take some family photos that you’ll cherish , let me know and we can set up a time and day that works well for you!
