Heather's UC Davis Grad Shoot
Heather and I met on the campus of UC Davis for her graduation photoshoot. Heather had contacted me about my services and was interested especially in capturing a bit more video. The 60-second video clip is typically a quick addition to my grad package, but she knew that there were specific video moments she wanted to capture. I love it when clients have ideas on what to shoot as it allows me to tailor make their video the way they would like it.
It was great to get to know Heather! As we walked around the campus I got to know her background and her studies at UC Davis. Turns out Heather is graduating with an engineering degree! You know what that means… she’s one smart cookie! I totally applaud her for this accomplishment as it is a very difficult degree to attain. I barely made it out of UC Davis myself, so her efforts definitely impressed me. Here’s Heather in front of the engineering building on the campus of UCD. It’s the first time I’ve shot here and a totally appropriate place to capture photos with Heather.
What would be a photoshoot at UC Davis without the famous sign at Dutton Hall? Thankfully, there was nobody there today so we could take our time getting all the photos and angles without folks breathing down our necks. Because of COVID-19, many students have been away from campus for months so there was definitely fewer shoots going on to contend with. I’m just glad we didn’t have to wait 30 minutes in line for the opportunity to get photos here!
Heather’s family joined in the shoot at Dutton Hall and we were able to take lots and lots of group shots at the sign. The family looked great and I think we were able to capture some really meaningful photos here. For my shoots, clients can have as many people as they want join in on the photoshoot! There’s never any extra cost for outfit changes or people in photos.
We were all over campus at the best places to shoot. It was quite a workout as UC Davis is quite large and spacious. This road is one of the ‘must’ go-to spots when it comes to grad photo sessions. Just look back at my catalogue of work and you’ll see photo after photo taken here! Wow, do you see the road here? It’s so clean! They must have done a great job that day getting the road nice like that. Just kidding… all that cleanliness can be attributed to Photoshop!
As with all shoots, I try to get unique shots that you wouldn’t get with any other photographer. Here’s a close up of the cap after Heather threw it in the air. It’s a bit different of an angle and I think this photo would work well amongst other photos that tell the story of Heather’s graduation.
It was incredible working with Heather! She had great ideas and also took directions from me very well. I’m sure she’ll be a huge success in the engineering field and I wish her the absolute best in the future! If you’re looking for a late 2020 grad shoot… it’s not too late! Message me and we’ll set up a time to capture this important occasion of life.
