Nicole's New Born Session
Being a father myself, I know how quickly children grow up. One day you can hold them in on hand, and the next they are bouncing all over the house! Newborn shoots are so precious because this period of time in their life is so short. Capturing this initial stage of life is well worth the effort even through the difficulties of daily caring for a newborn. I’m glad Nicole took the opportunity to capture this time with her beautiful baby daughter.
Newborn sessions are challenging in that you never know how the baby will be. I always wonder if they’ll smile, fall asleep, or get really cranky for me. It’s a roll of the dice for sure! The best situation is when the newborn is comfortable, and usually this means being really close to their parents. My thought process for capturing Nicole’s family today was just to have them spend some time together as a family.
I backed away and used a medium telephoto lens to capture all the moments - there were so many natural ones to photograph! Occasionally, I’d ask the couple to adjust a little here and there or to give the baby a kiss, but for the most part it was just them being them. To be even less of a distraction, I was using my Sony a9 in complete silent mode. I was rapidly taking dozens of photos at a time without a peep - I love that camera so much!
Nichole has a beautiful little daughter and I can tell that there is a lot of love in the family. I hope she enjoys the photos I took as I think they really show the tenderness that they all share. This particular photo session took place at the State Capitol Park in downtown Sacramento. It’s a wide open space with many beautiful places to take some photos.
If you’re interested in family photography or any type of photo session, please let me know as I’d be happy to shoot with you!
